Minara Resources is wholly owned by Glencore and operates the Murrin Murrin Nickel Cobalt mining and refining project in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. An opportunity has become available within our Supply and Logistics department for a supply professional to join us in the role of Contracts / Procurement Specialist – Commodities on a fixed term contract, concluding on 30 June 2018. This is the ideal role for an experienced individual looking to further their career within the resource industry.  The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with significant experience in contract development, negotiation and administration.

As a Contracts / Procurement Specialist you are directly accountable for:

  • Managing a portfolio of agreements (including large-value and high-risk agreements) for the provision of goods and services
  • Compiling agreement documentation, recommendations for award and managing variations
  • Processing purchase requisitions, raising purchase orders and responding to queries using the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Leading negotiations and providing strategic direction with regards to the development, implementation and management of contracts
  • Identifying and creating opportunities for cost reduction and value adding in all agreements relating to the provision of goods and services
  • Managing contractor relationships and minimising commercial risk
  • Providing support and coaching to the Procurement & Inventory section
  • Assisting the Inventory Controller by providing updates and technical information including drawings and data sheets for the catalogue and library
  • Assisting the Finance Department with invoicing queries to ensure on time payment
  • Providing leave coverage for both Perth and site based personnel as required
  • Acting in the role of Contracts Superintendent – Procurement & Inventory as and when requested to provide support and assistance to team members and internal customers

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Significant experience leading negotiations and managing high-value agreements (preferably within mining, oil & gas or similar industries)
  • A proven track record in the development of goods and services agreements (including planning, tendering, adjudication, negotiation, award and ongoing commercial management)
  • Previous success in contract negotiations, including dispute/claim resolution and managing contractor relationships
  • Ability to contribute positively to a team environment
  • A proactive attitude to personal safety
  • An understanding of contract law
  • Proficiency in ERP software (Oracle preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Word and Excel

This is a fixed term position based in our head office in Perth, with occasional visits to site when required. Our competitive salary package includes 12.5% superannuation, medical allowance and salary continuance insurance.
