Pastoral Coordinator

Minara Resources is wholly owned by Glencore International and operates the Murrin Murrin Nickel Cobalt mining and refining project in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. Minara employs approximately 1,000 employees and contractors at its Murrin Murrin Operations, making it one of the largest single site employers in Western Australia.

In addition to the mining and refining project, Minara currently manages and operates four pastoral stations, which cover a combined area of 939,258 hectares and located within the shires of Leonora and Laverton.

The Role:

We currently require an experienced, self-motivated Pastoral Coordinator to plan, coordinate, support and evaluate Minara's pastoral operations. Based at Glenorn station and reporting to Murrin Murrin Operations' Environmental Manager, you will coordinate operations across Minara's four pastoral leases. Glenorn and Nambi station current run just over 1700 head of cattle, while Yundamindra and Minara station are currently destocked with the homesteads being maintained by caretakers. Each station has a main homestead, contractor quarters, shearing sheds and yards. 

As the Pastoral Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

•  Maintenance and management of pastoral livestock to maximise revenue

•  Mustering and marketing of livestock

•  Maintenance of infrastructure such as fences, water points, yards, machinery and buildings

•  Control and management of feral animals and declared plants

•  Supervising and mentoring staff to ensure they work in a safe, productive manner

•  Financial management and budgeting, including marketing and sale of pastoral production

To be considered for this role, we require that you meet the following selection criteria:

•  WA "HC" class Driver's Licence

•  Formal education within the Agricultural or Pastoral industry (desirable)

•  Extensive knowledge of, and experience within, pastoral or agricultural industries

•  Demonstrated experience in machine operations (such as motorcycle, 4WD, grader, loader, tractor, aircraft)

•  Sound knowledge and skills relating to vehicle, plant, fences, water points and buildings maintenance and repairs

•  Experience in managing costs and budgeting

•  Good computer skills including word processing, presentation and spread sheet applications

•  Good communication skills, including strong report writing and presentation ability

The Company

The homestead at Glenorn Station is located approximately 30kms from the town of Leonora and is well-appointed with air-conditioning, telephone and television connectivity and is fully solar powered. As Pastoral Coordinator, Minara will provide you with a work vehicle and covers the cost of your fuel, food, phone and power whilst employed on site.
